Hutchinson Machine Learning Research Group
Our research focuses on developing machine learning (particularly deep learning) solutions to problems in a wide range of domains, including archaeology, astronomy, bioinformatics, building energy consumption, climate and earth science, computer vision, cybersecurity, education, materials science and natural language. Our work is highly collaborative, working with domain science experts to produce impactful solutions for the respective domains.
If you are a WWU student with research interests aligned with or adjacent to these, you are very welcome to send Brian Hutchinson an email or stop by during his office hours to chat about possible research opportunities. Due to time constraints, it may not be possible to respond to inquiries from prospective students who have not yet been accepted to WWU.
